<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>i have 2 puppies one siberian husky who was born july9th and a siberian husky/german shepard mix who was born june5th, i just found out that the brother of the siberian husky has mange nd so i know the sister has it since her face&#8217;s fur is falling a little and she plays a lot with my other puppy the mixed one so i know she probably got it she has no signs of it but never know, can any1 tell me a real good home cure for it? or something cheap? i have 3 kids so its real important for me<br />
Additional Details<br />
The brother of the siberian husky has sarcoptic mange I gave him 2 another person who got it checked todays</p>
<p>There is no &#8216;home remedy&#8217; for sarcoptic mange. It&#8217;s also highly contagious, so expect the other puppy to pick it up as well. Even if he doesn&#8217;t have it, the vet will probably want to treat him, too. The standard protocol is to treat all dogs in the household if one is diagnosed.</p>
<p>Your dog needs to see a vet for proper diagnosis and treatment. Explain that money is VERY tight and you would like to know what the least expensive, but still effective, option will be to treat.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s an excellent link on sarcoptic mange, including possible treatments:</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s due to a mite burrowing beneath the skin. Many mammals have a skin illness known as mange. There are a few kinds of mange however fortunately, just one or two influence your pets. Mange appears to be most typical in dogs and cats, though other animals can get it. With walking dandruff and a skin illness obvious on its fur, you may have 2nd thoughts about letting your dog within the house again.</p>
<p>And so you must ensure that your dogs don&#8217;t obtain this illness . These diseases are very like one another, with every one of them having varying effect on your pets. There are 3 sorts of mange that would develop in dogs &#8211; Sarcoptic Mange, Demodectic Mange, and the Cheyletiella Mange. Dependent on the dogs way of life ( within versus. Outside, active versus. Always use a quality shampoo with correct ph for dogs. Non-active ) a dog should be washed only once per week with a top quality dog and kitty shampoo and no less than each other month. The very good news is that dog&#8217;s have much stronger immunological defenses than humans do, and they can fight illnesses better.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.diy-home-remedies.com/images/ear-mite-home-remedies.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>If you can employ a home cure for dog mange it can often help to clear up the difficulty as he gets a little older. The home cure will ease his skin and help to fortify his immunological reaction so that he can fight back against these mites himself. Here is where you begin to see some baldness and he is going to be eternally itching and scratching away at the inflamed areas. Occasionally nevertheless, the mange continues to cause him difficulty and can spread to cover parts of his whole body. So what precisely is a home cure for dog mange? The best home cure for dog mange has to do a couple of things. Astragalus, Echinacea and arabinogalactans can be helpful.</p>
<p>Ensure the product you are picking is for topical use. These supplements have to be given to your dog orally. Take care, there are some concentrated oils that are un-diluted and they can be lethal to your dog. When you realize your dog has mange, take additional measures to be sure he&#8217;s clean.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://i.ytimg.com/vi/0fajRoZhUpg/2.jpg" alt="" align="left" />This video is being uploaded to show how vicious (or not) Louise is. Louise followed my wife and our dog home from a walk the night before our wedding. No tags, no chips. Left on the street, likely, because of her demodectic mange (I mispronounce it as dendritic in the video because I&#8217;m cool and never make mistakes). It&#8217;s being treated (little squirt of medicine in the mouth once a day). Because she can not be left alone with our dog at this time, and because of the nasty heat wave, we have had to board her at our vet&#8217;s for the last couple days. That, along with the bills for her medicine and diagnosis, has drained out all of the money that was given to us as wedding gifts and we have no choice but to bring her to a shelter if we can&#8217;t find an adopter or foster ASAP.</p>
<p>Check out some stills of her at http://picasaweb.google.com/aandyd/Louise</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h1 style="text-align: justify;">Mange Problem</h1>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://sarcoptic-mange.com/"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-632" title="Sarcoptic Mange" src="http://sarcoptic-mange.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/sarrrrrrrr.jpg" alt="Sarcoptic Mange" width="216" height="143" /></a>Hi so I thought I would re post this as I left details out etc&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So recently my friends girl had puppy&#8217;s (a cross breed litter of 6 4x black and 2x mixed color&#8217;s) and the b@tch got really ill and had to go for a op so was taken away from the pups from the start (she was with them for the first 2 hours) then had to have the op and was then put back with the pups once she was home, as all pups they had a weak immune system and so did mum (my friend then being a complete and utter idiot let a dog who had demodex mange around the mum and pups, the vet told her that she can carry the mange and &#8216;pass&#8217; on the mange to the pups and mum as their immune systems where weak so she had to use and anti bacterial gel every time before handling the pups!).<br />
After 3 weeks she took the pups for another check up and the vets noticed that they had little bald spots and done skin scrapings on every pup and it was diagnosed as demodex mange so she was treating it with advocate and it appeared to be working but obviously it is an ongoing treatment (other than the mange the puppy&#8217;s where in healthy condition putting on weight very well etc etc, so before anyone says they must have been left in appalling conditions to get this mange they were not they were in good condition and she has vet recs to prove so!), she then advertised the puppy&#8217;s for free but told everyone who inquired about them that they have the demodex mange but it is treatable with advocate from the vet (she explained that the vet would have to either do another skin scraping or would just visibly see that the puppy needed to have more of the treatment).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Recently she received an email of one of the people who took two of the puppy&#8217;s (one for her one for her friend) saying the puppy&#8217;s had sarcoptic mange&#8230;email shown below</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">&#8216;i have had the worst 72 hours of my life&#8230;.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">my hairy dog fell in a lake and ended up coasting me £400 at the same time i mention to my vet about puppy itching&#8230; and pointed out a rash on my arm&#8230;. he then points out that its mange&#8230;</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">More About Mange</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">so not only have i had to treat her my 2&#8230; my rats.. and me&#8230;. the vet bill is now 650&#8230;. you promised me that she didn&#8217;t have mange and that it was just the black ones&#8230;. and its sarcoptic mange not the one you said it was&#8230;.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">my friend is fuming as well.. i feel upset that you didn&#8217;t tell me from the start&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">i could of treated her alot earlier to of saved pain and discomfort&#8230;. and also my animals&#8230; and myself as its more time of work for me&#8230;.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">she has been treated with advocate and has 6 months worth and so are mine my rats are not in a good way as there old&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">i am still unsure as to what i am going to do about this situation&#8230;..</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">i am hoping that me telling you that me you and my friend can come to some sort of arrangement&#8230;..&#8217;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">the thing is she told everyone that the puppy&#8217;s had demodex mange, she said it was clearly visible on the black puppy&#8217;s BUT she couldn&#8217;t see it on the mix colored puppy&#8217;s but that didn&#8217;t mean they didn&#8217;t have the mange and she should go to the vet and get them checked telling the vet that the puppy&#8217;s had/have demodex mange. This woman is now expecting my friend to pay for her dog falling in the lake and the treatment for her other dogs and animals (and this wwoman&#8217;sfriend is expecting my friend to pay for all the animals in her house as well), but they where told that the puppy&#8217;s COULD still have the demodex mange and should be checked by the vet and even told them what treatment to use.<br />
I didn&#8217;t think that sarcoptic mange could be treated by advocate?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Is my friend in any fault? as she did tell the people from the start that there is still a good chance that the puppy&#8217;s have demodex mange as they where diagnosed with it from the start and where being treated with it. Shouldn&#8217;t they have taken the puppy&#8217;s to the vet and got them checked out anyway?!<br />
Also how could the puppy&#8217;s have developed sarcoptic mange if they where diagnosed with demodex mange? none of the other puppy&#8217;s have sarcoptic mange they all have demodex mange?!<br />
She was willing to pay for the puppy&#8217;s treatment but only if they where brought back to her as the new owners hadn&#8217;t taken the puppy&#8217;s to the vet until a week later. None of the other puppy&#8217;s given away have the sarcoptic mange only these 2 which makes no sense!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">She has told the women that she is willing to pay for the puppy&#8217;s treatment if they are brought back to her but she is not willing to pay for the other animals treatment as it is the people&#8217;s fault as they did not take the puppy&#8217;s to the vet (like any normal people would!)<br />
anne b: i said above why i deleted the question!!! the puppy&#8217;s didn&#8217;t have sarcoptic mange before going to new homes they had demodex mites which was being treated just needed on going treatment, she explained this to everyone and people where still happy enough to take the puppy&#8217;s so she was not scamming anyone or anything as they where FREE!!!<br />
Why should she have to pay for other animals catching this mange when while the puppy&#8217;s where in her care they never had it?! vet records can prove they never sarcoptic mange that they had demodex mites and none of the other puppy&#8217;s that where given away had sarcoptic mange they have demodex mites.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Going with your questions at the end here:</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">1. I didn&#8217;t think that sarcoptic mange could be treated by advocate?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">-No, it can&#8217;t be.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">2. Is my friend in any fault?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">-Hard to say.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Demodectic mange would be the mange a vet would suspect in young, indoor-raised puppies with an unhealthy dam, absolutely. That&#8217;s what she was told by HER vet was going on, and she dutifully treated for it and informed puppy buyers.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The issue is whether demodectic mange was the right diagnosis. Dogs with sarcoptic mange tend to scratch uncontrollably, so even though is very hard to diagnose with skin scrapings, chronically itchy puppies should have suggested to your friend and her vet that sarcoptic mange was potentially the issue. Skin scrapings fail to find sarcoptic mange mites AT LEAST half the time, and treating for it&#8211;the maybe mange test- is often necessary to properly diagnose sarcoptic mange.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The OTHER possibility is that the pup got sarcoptic mange after going to the new home.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">3. Shouldn&#8217;t they have taken the puppy&#8217;s to the vet and got them checked out anyway?!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">-Yes, absolutely, within 24-48 hours of bringing the pups home. Your friend should have required this in her contracts.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">4.Also how could the puppy&#8217;s have developed sarcoptic mange if they where diagnosed with demodex mange? none of the other puppy&#8217;s have sarcoptic mange they all have demodex mange?!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">They could have gotten sarcoptic mange by being around another animal with sarcoptic mange. It spreads quite easily from one dog to the next, from racoons, foxes, etc.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Yes, they can actually get both.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Are you 100% SURE the other puppies don&#8217;t have sarcoptic mange? If you are, then this one puppy got it after he went home.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_sarcoptic_mange.html</p>
<p>http://www.marvistavet.com/html/demodectic_mange.html</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">ETA: Contrary to what another poster said, humans CAN get sarcoptic mange, although it&#8217;s a self-limiting infection in humans as the mites can&#8217;t reproduce on humans.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">ETA: My dog had sarcoptic mange when I adopted her from the shelter. She had been in a foster home (as were all their pups) and the shelter didn&#8217;t know about the mange.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Because i took her to the vet w/in 24 hours, I had no problem at all getting the shelter to reimburse me for the costs of treatment.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">My dog was one on which the scrapings didn&#8217;t find the mites, although she couldn&#8217;t even eat without stopping to scratch herself, so we began a series of ivermectin injections that cleared it. (The so-called &#8220;Maybe Mange&#8221; test.)</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">She had been living mainly outdoors with the foster family&#8217;s other dogs, so we&#8217;re pretty sure it came from foxes and ALL their dogs also needed treatment because it&#8217;s so contagious!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Though this skin disorder is way more plentiful in dogs, cats can and do get the mange. Mange is a skin illness that comes in a few forms and causes. It can be mild to very prolonged and it&#8217;s always due to bugs. With this skin infection your moggy will probably develop skin lesions, itching, and in dreadful cases, the loss of big amounts of hair. The bugs that cause this condition are ear mites. Mange is a non-contagious illness and not life-threatening unless untreated, permitting it to spread unmanageably. Common treatments include administering prescribed medicines, using anti-fungal shampoos or dips, and maybe applications of iodine. Keeping your dog clean will also go a ways at stopping skin related issues like mange, dermatitis, and hot spots. This isn&#8217;t a life-endangering illnesses and can be simply cured if some cares are correctly taken. Of these 3, demodectic mange can be thought to be as the most gentle type. There are examples that dogs bounce back from it all alone, even without medical intervention. Nonetheless it is incredibly difficult to tell demodectic mange from sarcoptic mange, which is a lot more terrible. If left untreated, sarcoptic mange can become generalized, which implies that the whole skin surface of your dog gets influenced. The mites will reproduce and when that occurs, there&#8217;ll be a sharp odour coming from the areas affected. Treating your dog naturally is always the soundest way to go, but in dreadful cases, it is best to make a trip to your vet.</p>
<p>Your pet could also develop blisters and bleeding. First , it must tackle the essential reason for mange, which is the miniscule parasitic mange mites. If you think that your dog has mange, you&#8217;ll wish to enhance your pets immunological system with herbal additions. And thirdly it additionally needs to boost his immunological response so that he may help to fight off the mange mites himself. Second , it must ease his inflamed skin. The best dog mange treatments will have to tackle all 3 of these if they&#8217;re to stand any chance of getting on top of the difficulty. He is counting on you to help him out and keep his symptoms in hand.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Demodex mange is a skin complaint in dogs that&#8217;s due to them having a reaction to little parasitic mites. These mites are passed from mother to puppy dog and are often kept in order by the dog&#8217;s immunological system. Does your dog suffer from mange? Mange often starts off as a local problem on the young dog&#8217;s face. But in some young puppies this does not occur and the mites cause redness, scaly inflamed skin and hair loss. You can see 1 or 2 express areas of irritation round his eyes and nose. Cheyletialla mange is also known as walking dandruff as it is due to a bigger kind of red mite that produces scaling or flaking on your pet&#8217;s skin that looks like dandruff. This form is again rare, but when plagued you moggy will probably be attacked on the back, neck alongside their sides. This is also a highly catching sort of the mange that may be broadcast to other animals as well as humans. Chigger&#8217;s mange is due to mites that seem to be either red or yellow spots on you pets and may cause red sores as well as very raw skin.</p>
<p>A single mite on your dog&#8217;s skin will impose it with the illness as it&#8217;ll multiply in number in a case of a week. The mites burrow themselves into the skin of the dog to eat the nutriments and then reproduce. However , that might only occur if your dog&#8217;s immunological reaction is feeble. Dogs with powerful antibodies can simply fight off the bugs that cause mange. Treating your dog naturally is always the most secure way to go, but in dreadful cases, it&#8217;s smart to make a trip to your vet. And so the right way to stop mange is to make certain that your pet gets the best attention both in its cleanliness and diet habits.</p>
<p>These additions have to be given to your dog orally. Astragalus, Echinacea and arabinogalactans can at times be useful. The appliance of aloe vera, tea tree oil and vitamin E is also a superb treatment for mange. The 1st, Sarcoptic mange generally starts from the head, spreads to the ears, tail, and ultimately goes unto under the front legs. Now we move on to the second type, demodectic mange. This sort of mange can frequently be handled with shampoos and medication. This kind is typically a consequence of mites and is commonly found in puppies.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h1 style="text-align: justify;">Demodex mites cause mange</h1>
<p style="text-align: justify;">What is demodex mites? Demodectic mange is a skin complaint in dogs that&#8217;s due to them having a reaction to small parasitic <strong>demodex mites</strong>. These demodex mites are passed from mummy to puppydog and are sometimes kept in hand by the dog&#8217;s immunity mechanism. But in some young puppies this does not occur and the demodex mites cause inflammation, scaly inflamed skin and baldness. Read on and discover a <a href="http://www.naturalhealth-supplements.com/remedy/home-remedies-for-solar-lentigo.htm" rel="nofollow">home cure</a> for dog mange.</p>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">Home cure for demodex mites</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You may see 1 or 2 particular areas of irritation round his eyes and nose. Mange caused by demodex mites generally starts off as a local problem on the young dog&#8217;s face. As vile as the dog looks, and as uncomfortable he&#8217;s with the itching, the genuine threat is infection. Mange set off a real stress on the dog&#8217;s immunity mechanism as it attempts to attack and eject the demodex mites.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="<a href=&quot;http://sarcoptic-mange.com/internallinks.html>&#8220;><img src="http://www.buzzle.com/img/articleImages/358646-5719-39.jpg" alt="demodex mites" width="233" height="350" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">That immune reaction can be further stressed by infection due to the dog&#8217;s recurring scratching and rolling around. When a patch of skin gets infected and the dog&#8217;s defenses are feeble, then you have got the potential for much more serious issues. The products you choose should be accepted for topical use. Mange is due to demodex mites in your dog&#8217;s skin, so to treat mange effectively, you must lose the demodex mites. Sarcoptic is another kind of mange which is more heavy, but awfully treatable if diagnosed in time. One cheap and effective way to kill off demodex mites is to spread a slim layer of petrol jelly on your dog&#8217;s fur. Another popular home cure for demodex mites is olive oil. So a large amount of caution should be used when dealing with and handling a dog which has been diagnosed as having an infestation of <span style="text-decoration: underline;">demodex mites</span>.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Getting rid of demodex mites</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Getting rid of the demodex mites is very importnat. If you don&#8217;t treat demodex mites, your dog will have wild itching and patchy alopecia. Vet intervention will be required. He will likely prescribe Ivermectin, which is given in 2 doses ( 2 weeks apart ). I&#8217;ve seen cases where folks think because it&#8217;s the Summer their dog is just losing their coat, but the result is a loss of plenty of their hair. The secondary Bacterial Infection is mostly the key source for the other chances, the infection can spread. Finally your dog will die if no treatment for the demodex mites has been provided they can die from a secondary bacterial infection, dehydration, or merely pure exhaustion. Small as they are, <em>demodex mites</em> can cause a lot of damage to your dog if left untreated.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hey all..</p>
<p>I would like to appeal to people who have had experience with dogs. I really need some urgent advice on this as i feel like crying for the sake of my puppy.</p>
<p>Heres the problem:</p>
<p>I have the 3 month old Chihuahua (black and tan) named Muppet. I got him from a certified breeder who flew him a long distance to get to me. I love him as if he were a child of mine, and i only want the best for him. As any good pet owner would, i took him for his shots at 8 weeks old. The vet told me he prefers waiting till the puppies are 8 weeks old instead of 6 weeks old to have thier first vaccination. This is because the vet believes that its best to do it when they are a little more mature.</p>
<p>All went well and i took him to the vet for his shot. He was well behaved and didn&#8217;t even peep when he had his shot. He also weighed 500g! LOL. Anyway, the cornea of his eye was red when i got him, and slowly swelled more in the first 2 weeks i had him. When i took him for his shots, the vet said that it&#8217;s a burst gland and that he would have to go for an operation when he is 4 months old &#8220;if&#8221; he is old big. So i got some ointment to treat the symptoms and took him home after his shot.</p>
<p>About 2 hours after that, i noticed that he had an irritating itch and scratched it quite ofen. I assumed it was fleas&#8230; That was until a week later that he started scratching himself raw and till he bled. Ive treated it with lots of medication like disinfectant etc. But nothing is helping. Ive also been reading on the net alot about what the cause might be. And so far it seems as though it is either Demodectic mange or Sarcoptic Mange. Where he scratches, he has lost lots of hair and keeps scratching even though it is already bleeding and raw.</p>
<p>It really breaks my heart to see him do this, and he cries as he does so. I have given him a bath in anti flea and tick powder, as well as misted him down with Anti Bacterial Spray for grooming. Ive also given him a bath in Hydrogen Peroxide and Borax (because this apparently kills the hives off), but he is scratching still (and i did the Hydrogen bath tonight by the way). It got so bad that i had to bandage his paws up so he cant scratch anymore. Im going to be taking him to the vet either tomorrow or tuesday (Im in South Africa) but what can i do in the meantime or get for him? I also read up that the pet owner should rather wait until the dogs immune system cures its self if it can or it can be passed the a litter if the dog is bred with.</p>
<p>Im very worried about this and need some advice! =[ Its heartbreaking to see muppet like this. Please help!</p>
<p>(i also dont want any nasty comments like the dog should be euthanized or anything.. i will just give people with those comments low ratings.)</p>
<p>I will rate best answer<br />
P.S please excuse the way ive worded this! Hehe, my spelling sux sometimes. And i gave him a bath in anti flea and tick shampoo as well as anti flea and tick powder and treated him with anti bacterial grooming spray for dogs and cats!<br />
*note*</p>
<p>The shampoo and anti bacterial spray i used was herbal, and contained oatmeal, rosemary and aloe to help alleviate skin irritations.</p>
<p>Taking him to the Vet is your best choice to find out what is going on. It could be allergies, contact dermatitis, mites, problems with his food. You can give him some Benadryl to lessen the itching &amp; see if that works. It should help.</p>
<p>When you go to the Vet he will do a skin scraping to see if there are mites. If no mites he will suggest your other options.</p>
<p>I had a Dane that was always scratching &amp; he had some mites but it wasn&#8217;t any of the mange mites. Regular dips or flea &amp; tick treatments helped him. It never went to the other dogs but the mites would bite me.</p>
<p>It is horrible to have a problem like this &amp; not to know what it could be or what you can do to stop it. You don&#8217;t want your baby suffering.</p>
<p>Your Vet will be of more help than any of us.</p>
