is bad breath a symptom of sarcoptic mange?
My dogs have had sarcoptic mange for 5 weeks (didn’t confirm the dx until last week when the heartgard injection worked, vets suspected fungal infection but the culture took 3 weeks and it was negative) Anyway, 3 days ago their breath began to STINK, both dogs. I thought maybe just a bad breath day IDK. Their teeth are sparkly white thanks to RMBs. No diet change except a month ago I added milk thistle.
I know sarcoptic mange causes an odor to the body, but is it to the breath too, or any other ideas what is going on please?
It kind of like a rotten garlic smell. (they haven’t gotten garlic in a month) It’s so strong that if they lick my hand, my hand stinks.
The vet never called me back from yesterday..I suspect he will monday. But does anyone know?
(their bloodwork was all fine, no tick diseases. one has a problem with his liver but my other doesn’t and both breath smells)

their diet hasn’t changed..they eat a prey model raw food diet. mostly it’s beef. I am supplementing with vitamins and that’s new in the last month but other than that nothing. no sores inside their mouth..
hm. I have given them sulfur orally (homeopathy)
dogs bodies are designed to eat raw meat (carnivores) they’ve been eating it for 2 years. the sulfur wasn’t much, 1 pellet every week.
J- I used to,and yeah I smelled that too, but this is much much worse. I stopped the garlic for about a month.
do you feed brewer’s yeast + garlic tablets? My dog has gotten them every day for a year and ever since then she has had bad breath. It doesn’t matter what quality of dog food i feed her. . .breath is still yuck :-/

You are seeing Petey’s movie clip on a follow up medical appointment to check the results of his fecal exam, which was positive for giardia. Giardia is highly contagious to both human and other dogs, but after days of medication, he may have won the battle with this nasty parasite. Petey’s heart worm test was negative, but he still has a heart murmer, which we’ll check again in a week. Skin scraping revealed positive for demodex and negative for sarcoptic mange, but the doc feels almost certain mange is there, so we continue our daily meds. No parvo- one less thing to worry about! Severely mentally and physically beaten up is a good way to describe Petey, and the words “neglect” , “abuse”, and abandonment come to mind when you see him, as well as betrayal. My Puppy Has Sarcoptic Mange. Will He Get It again? How Long Before It Goes?
Problem On Sarcoptic Mange
Hi my jack russell puppy of 8 weeks has a bad case of sarcoptic mange…i rescued him from living outside in a area with alot of bigger dogs so he has had a rough start to life, i took him in 5 days ago and notcied his skin, someone suggested it be stress related, it didnt clear up so he was at the vets today and we had it confirmed with a skin scraping….he is to start treatment 2morrow by being “bathed” the vet says he needs this 3-4 times….what else will he need?? He mentioned anti bs?? Also how long before he starts to feel better as it breaks my heart to see him in pain the poor little thing…Because hes had it once will he have it again??
