sarcoptic mange mites?
My friends dog has sarcoptic mange Mites but he can’t afford a vet. The dog looks bad. I can’t afford one either… Is there something I can use to help this dog? We know its mange mites we have been looking at all the systems online. There are allot of products out there but what one will work… Motor oil didn’t. Help me help this dog please?!!!
Yes I was told that Motor oil will kill them… I can’t shave the hair off because she doesn’t have any. Mange mites lay eggs under the skin anyways. Shaving her would do no good. I have asked a vet and they want to charge me to come in for testing other wise they do not want to help. Local store do not carry anything for mange mites.
I think I will try more vets and see if there is a payment plan… I can’t see this dog in anymore pain. Thank you all for your help!
Topical treatments DO NOT work for mange mites as the mites live right down in the hair follicles. Some of the spot on treatments (that are absorbed through the skin) such as Revolution will help with scabies.
Ivermectin also is a recognised treatment but shouldn’t be used on collie breeds.
The dog really needs to see a vet as skin scrapings should be done to check whether it is sarcoptic or demodectic mange mites that are on the dog.
Skin problem with my little dog? 10 points!?
My Cavalier king charles has a severe skin problem. She has been to the vets who thinks its fleas. So i went home with anti-inflamatories and medicated shampoo. She was treated fully but has gotten worse. She is in terrible discomfort so i talked to the vet who says its hard to tell with skin what it could be. I think it could be sarcoptic or demodeptic mange- but deffinately not fleas. Anyway the vet gave us plenty of antibiotics and told me to keep using the medicated shampoo. So far, no improvement. I have other dogs and all of them are perfectly fine!! Even the cat shares the bed with her and he’s ok too. Any advise, tips or help guys? I cant stand to see her like this, it came on so suddenly too. Her skin is all scabby and crusty and she has a bit of hair loss.
The vet gave us an appointment again for next week, should i ask for a skin scraping?
Thanks
Allergies or mange. Get a skin scraping to rule out mange, but also test for food allergies. What are you feeding her? Many dogs are allergic to grains in dog food, or even some of the proteins, and it manifests as skin problems. I had a similar problem with my dog and tried everything for dry skin- supplements, oatmeal baths, flea tests and treatments, etc. Some of these helped, but it didn’t go away until i switched him to a higher quality food with no corn.
Good luck!
Sarcoptic mange. My poor puppy.?
The vet diagnosed my dog with sarcoptic mange about a year ago we got him the revolution and treated it. Now it is back so I got more revolution and started treating it. It isnt getting any better. this is our 10th week. (keep in mind after we got it the first time i kept applying revolution monthly) HELP !!! He is a year and half 70 something pound pit terrier.
This supplement will really help him get rid of it for good.> http://springtimeinc.com/product/88/2
He is reinfecting from the premises. Keep up the revolution, as it is his heartworm prevention , as well.
I am wondering if he is getting the right dose/size of Revolution? It really should be working. Is the vet certain that it isn’t demodex mange?
